Religion: Craft
Theme: The Sacraments - Baptism
☑ Making a yarn-wrapped cross from popsicle sticks.

English: Independent Reading
☑ Daphne and Jeffrey Ferguson, The Red Rocket (Soundwork Readers, 2006)

Mathematics: Maths Games
Theme: Measurement - What attributes can be measured?

We used three pictures from a travel brochure, and identified something we could measure in each using the following units:
  • degrees C
  • millimetres
  • centimetres
  • metres
  • kilometres
  • how many? (numerals)
  • seconds
  • minutes
  • hours
My favourite answer was on the top picture - the tag at the right on the castle. Waratah's choice for what we could measure in seconds in this picture was "the time it took for the king in the castle to brush his teeth."

Creative Arts: Craft
☑ Waratah chose to get an early start on making Christmas cards. (He has also chosen to listen exclusively to Christmas music at bedtime for the past few weeks).

Waratah liked the sample yarn wrapped cross I had made which finished off the God's Eye pattern. He asked me to teach him how to do it. After a only a little instruction he quickly got the hang of it and was very pleased to finish his own example. (He promptly stuck "Merry Christmas" stickers on it to make it into a Christmas gift.)

Human Society & Environment: Investigation
Theme: All about me.
☑ We filled in a four generation family tree. This is the template we used.

Science & Technology: Observation and Report
Theme: A baby grows to an adult.
☑ Waratah observed Boronia and reported on all the things she could do as a four month old that she had been unable to do when she was born.
